Portolas Pride+// is both the scholar and the gentleman. He is so talented. He was National Champion in Country English Pleasure and Reserve National Champion in Native Costume. During his 14 year show career he stacked up 12 National and Canadian National Top Ten awards in Hunter Pleasure, Driving, Show Hack, Side Saddle and Native Costume. (His show record is 15 pages long) So, that is where he earned the title of “scholar” – he indeed did excel in the performance arena.  When one studies his pedigree he was BRED to perform. He offers double Witraz through both Bask and Celebes. Pure Polish performance power in his pedigree.   Now, he’s retired from the show ring and has earned the best title of “Gentleman.” He now takes leisurely rides in the mountains of Colorado. At times, we ride bareback and all he needs is a snaffle bit. He’s adjusting to the “country” life well. He has the heart and talent to do anything we ask with a great attitude to give you all of his heart on every ride.    He has the best disposition and he throws this in his babies.   Most of all, he has “Pride”. All I have to do is gather his reins and cue him and he turns on the Pizzazz as if he were doing his victory run at Nationals – he is a GREAT show horse and sire.   He passes on his remarkable athletic ability and drive to his foals. The key is, however, his easygoing disposition. My 5-year-old daughter brings him his grain and treats every day – he’s a sweetheart.
